Hi, Slight technical idiot here. I'm trying to use my old Yamaha PSR-330 as a controller in Reason. I've got a cheapo USB MIDI cable (Midi in, midi out one end, USB the other) and I've plugged that from the keyboard to the computer and windows has auto installed the hardware when I plugged it in. I then opened Reason, tried to set up the keyboard and went Preferences->Keyboards and Control Surfaces->Add->Manufacturer: other, Model: MIDI keyboard (no controls), MIDI input: USB midi cable.
Which made sense to me. But i'm not getting any response from reason when I press keys, and I had a go at using the 'find' function on the MIDI input section when adding the controller, and pressing keys didn't get any response there either. I apologise for my idiocy, but am I doing something wrong? Is this even possible?
I have been making music in Reason for years and always used an old Yamaha PSR-295 as my MIDI controller, but the USB input died a couple of months ago. Now I am trying to find a better replacement that will actually help me out in more ways then the PSR-295 did. I was checking out the.
It seems appealing to me for a couple of reasons: • I really long for MPC buttons to put more soul in my drum progamming (I mainly do hip-hop related production). • I really want to be able to carry my MIDI controller around, since I produce inside and outside of the house • I don't have a lot of money to spend at the moment. Am I getting value for my money with the AKAI MPK Mini MK2? Are their any other options? Also, it seems that the MPK Mini MK2 has a hard time with mapping in Reason 5. Free Download Lagu Drama Korea Master Sun there.
Although people, I was wondering if people who are also Reason natives can share their experience? I have that controller and I wish I had either spent more money or demo'd more controllers in that price range. I still use it almost daily but here are my major complaints about it: The pads are pretty inconsistent. If you're hoping for a 1:1 ratio of what you played to what gets recorded then you'll be disappointed.
The keys are so dang small and gummy feeling. Unless you have very slim fingers it will be difficult-ish to play. It does map oddly in Reason. I haven't quite put the effort into getting it to map 100% how I want, but know that out of the box you'll have to tweak some stuff. That being said, I'm on a student budget and this was all I could afford so I totally get where you're. It'll get you where you're going with some tweaking of your performances (because it's hard to perform anything accurately on it) and its mapping.
